Recently on Instagram, I saw a post by this woman who claims she wears a fake engagement ring at her male-dominated work place to avoid getting hit on.
She was a decently attractive Asian girl, but personally I don't she gets hit on that much, because no one gets hit on that much. But I digress.
Here's why it's a bad practice:
It's dishonest to wear one. Engagement rings are for people who are ACTUALLY engaged. Wedding rings are for married individuals as well as widows and widowers.
When you wear one and you aren't actually engaged, married, or widowed, you are lying to others and yourself.
This lie is also not sustainable, and the longer you try to keep it alive, the worse it becomes.
Also, it greatly decreases and hurts your chances of finding love.
What if someone wants to start a potential relationship with you, but can't because they are under the impression you are married?
What if you want to start a potential relationship with someone and you ask them out, but they mention the fact that you wear a ring or they have seen you wear a ring?
Do you simply tell them you were never actually engaged or married?
Good luck with that.
Stop doing it. You're lying and you look stupid.
Until next time...
